Introducing The New Farlows Fieldwear Collection

The new Farlows fieldwear collection has arrived in-store and here Brand Manager, Peter Sant, takes a look at the genesis of the range, and highlights some of his favourite pieces.

The approach taken to developing the new Farlows fieldwear and shooting clothing collection was driven by two crucial criteria: It had to look the part and it had to work!

Creating a tweed collection that fitted the traditional styling and etiquette of British game shooting was one thing, but that then had to be matched with the modern performance requirements so very important in today’s shooting world. To this end Farlows have created a range of exclusive tweeds for their fieldwear that marry the latest hi-tech performance technology with the very best of traditional British shooting style.



The tones and textures in the small family of tweeds will appeal equally to the grouse shooter wanting to blend into the moorland and to the pheasant shooter looking for a good all round tweed for regular days in the field.

The tweeds in the collection are a mix of pure Cheviot and twisted merino and Cheviot yarns. They are extremely hard-wearing and are treated with a water-resistant finish to help the compact, high-twist tweed to repel moisture and dirt, as they were naturally designed to do.

All of the tweeds are made for exclusively for Farlows in a small mill in Hawick, Scotland.



The Farlows Tweed Field Coat The Farlows field coat is probably one of the most over-engineered garments in the fieldwear market!

The tweeds are sent from Scotland to a small coat maker in England, where they are hand cut and crafted into garments with the care and skill you would expect from a small artisan workshop.

The finish on the coats is exquisite and each has a waterproof drop liner, which is fully breathable and ensures the shooter will stay comfortable and dry all day, even in the foulest of weather. The trims and finishing details are exceptional, with two-way zips, Alcantara trims to the pockets and cuff, rubberised Farlows snaps to protect precious gunstocks and a Ventile drip strip to the lower part of the coat to avoid water migration through the coat if rough shooting or moving through thick vegetation.





The Farlows Wax Field Coat The collection also includes the ultimate wax jacket!

This coat is made with the same details and consideration as the tweed coats but from a dry wax fabric, made in England, impregnated with a wax that is not only fully waterproof but never needs retreating like traditional wax garments. It should also never smell of ‘wet dog’ like most tend to do after heavy wear! This coat is absolutely bomb proof and, like the rest of the coats in the collection, will bring years of faithful service.



Farlows Quilted Paddock Coat Made in England, the new paddock coat has a high performance Fruedenberg quilted lining which is both exceptionally warm and ultra-light. The coats are finished with cord and Alcantara trims and have silent, rubberised snaps to reduce noise in the field.

Exceptionally warm, extremely practical country coats that look and perform every bit as well around town as they do in the field or on the bank; they are available in navy blue and olive green.



Farlows Ladies’ Tweed Shooting Cape This garment has attracted a lot of media attention, it has already featured in ‘Tatler’ and the ‘Shooting Gazette’ and has graced the covers of several magazines – and quite rightly so, it’s stunning when worn casually and totally practical for use in the field too.

The herringbone tweed is naturally water repellent and is lined with Loden to give warmth and comfort. The cape is cut to enable the lady gun to swing to the quarry and is beautifully trimmed with Alcantara buttons and undercollar.
