Introducing The New Farlows Fishing Jackets

Farlows Brand Manager, Peter Sant, discusses the design of the two brilliant new garments that have just entered the Farlows fishing collection.

The creation of the two new Farlows fishing jackets continues our strategy of sourcing the very finest outdoor garments in the UK, and for this project we have collaborated with Hilltrek in Scotland.

The Story – Sourced from the Best

Based in Aboyne, Royal Deeside, Hilltrek has been crafting performance outerwear for over 30 years.

Their customer base spans the globe, and includes Alpinists, photographers, walkers and fishermen, many using their special order service to create bespoke outerwear to their own exacting requirements. Their kit has been fieldtested in some of the world’s harshest conditions, in the rugged Cairngorms and on the famous River Dee, where the very worst British weather can be experienced while salmon fishing its illustrious beats!

Hilltrek employs Cotton Analogy® technology in their garments, which combines a Ventile® outer with a synthetic inner Nikwax Analogy® Pump Liner.

Ventile® is truly an original performance fabric, developed to increase the chances of survival for pilots ditching into the sea during World War II, and it is still used today for jet fighter pilot jumpsuits.

Ventile® coupled with the Nikwax Analogy® liner, which actively pumps moisture away from the body by means of a very clever capillary action, produces the warm, highly breathable, quiet, waterproof and extremely durable fabric system used for both fishing jackets.

The Four Season Fishing Jacket

These fishing jackets are perfectly suited to big river fishing, where the wind can create sub–zero chill factors. The collar on the Four Season is cut high to protect the neck and the stowable hood, with a wired rim, provides full cover in the very worst wind and rain.

There are two large chest pockets for stowing fly boxes, internal D loops for attaching tools and a large poacher pocket on the rear for spare kit, or a flask and sandwiches. There are internal pockets for secure storage of small kit and a military grade YKK two-way zip.

The Creek Fishing Jacket

The Creek is destined to be a `go to` coat for all types of fishing in Britain and beyond. It can cope with all weather, using exactly the same system as the Four Season, but is of a more simple design. Lighter in weight, it has two internal drop pockets and a zipped Nelson pocket inside the placket to secure valuables.

Two large chest pockets, which will fit up to the largest C&F fly box, internal D loops to anchor your favourite nippers and, as with its big brother, a D loop on the rear to attach a landing net and a YKK two-way zip.

The Farlows Creek Jacket

The DNA of these two fishing coats fulfils the mission we set out to achieve; bringing a fishing coat into the Farlows collection that will deliver years of faithful service, perform in all conditions and be a great example of British craftsmanship and innovation.
